Senior Vice President, Production

Ryan is Senior Vice President of Production at Rideback where he works on both live action and animated projects. In addition to running point on the development and production of the LEGO universe, he focuses on further developing the company’s existing feature slate and finding new material. At Rideback he has executive produced THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART, and co-produced DEATH NOTE, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE and THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE.

Ryan hails from Harvard where he studied Neurobiology and Economics, but spent most of his time pursuing the arts. He spent four years performing with the cast of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, America’s oldest collegiate theatrical organization. Outside the Pudding he performed, choreographed and directed slightly less burlesque productions at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge among other places on campus. In the summer of 2011, Ryan tested the LA waters with an internship at Lin Pictures. After one more year in the northeast scanning brains, he decided he couldn’t stay away any longer.

Ryan was born in Chicago and grew up in Palo Alto, CA. In his spare time he choreographs couples’ first dances at weddings and plays soccer.

Childhood ambition: To be first baseman for the San Francisco Giants.

Fondest memory: Choreographing a Lady Gaga-inspired production of the musical Chicago.

Soundtrack: West Side Story, Book of Mormon, LCD Soundsystem.

Retreat: Lake Tahoe.

Wildest dream: To make a movie musical my dad would leave the couch to see.

Proudest moment: Roasting Julianne Moore in a Mark Zuckerberg costume in college.

Biggest challenge: Deciding something’s finished.

Alarm clock: A really elaborate Rube Goldberg machine involving electricity inside my iPhone.

Perfect day: Playing pickup soccer, in the rain, on a mountain, on an island in the middle of the ocean, followed by a hot tub, a big meal, and a live show. All with buddies. In space.

First job: Singing for tips at Coldstone Creamery.

Indulgence: So You Think You Can Dance, chocolate chip cookies.

Last purchase: Takeout from Tender Greens, bro!

Favorite movie: Fight Club, Short Term 12, Aladdin, The Social Network, The Truman Show, Wet Hot American Summer, Network.

Inspiration: My family, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Robin Williams.

My life: Always a student.
